Steinbeis Team Nordost develops commercial services for Biocenter Oulu

Biocenter Oulu, a bioinstitute in Finland and the Steinbeis Team Nordost successfully finished a pilot project on the concept to build up commercial services for the core facilities of the Biocenter Oulu. BCO core facilities offer services in Transgenic animals, Proteomics and protein analysis, Protein crystallography, Protein sequencing and amino acid analysis, Biocomputing and bioinformatics, Microsopic bioimaging, Microarray and DNA sequencing, and Gene transfer/silencing using viral vectors. In the frame of the project the Steinbeis Team suggested to develop the core facility services further by establishing four Service Centers with responsible project managers covering the above service areas.

Biocenter Oulu is a multidisciplinary research institute that operates in the biosciences and health research focus areas of the University of Oulu. The project was supported by the European Regional Development Fund, The city of Oulu and local companies.
