Second AnnouncementInvitation to an international symposium to establish an interdisciplinary network of researchers dealing with the handling of knowledge in a knowledge-based society.The symposium takes place on the 4th and 5th of September, 2008, in Munich. The symposium is a follow-up on a successful kick-off workshop that took place on 18th of April, 2008 in Berlin. The symposium aims at creating a European network of researches integrating all relevant disciplines dealing with the changing role of knowledge with respect to growth, employment and competitiveness in Europe. The network shall overcome delimitations of disciplines regarding the interdependence between economic necessities and social requirements of knowledge creation and exploitation by integrating jurisprudence, economics and business management, humanities, technology and engineering. The project is granted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and aligned to the field of social sciences and humanities within the Seventh EU Research Framework Programme (FP7). The project aims at exchanging knowledge and creating interdisciplinary research projects within the network to promote the scientific and public discussion about the handling of knowledge in a knowledge-based society. As concrete results during the project period (February to October 2008) a kick-off workshop has been organized and will be followed by an international symposium in order to establish the interdisciplinary network of researchers. The project shall further result in joint applications within the 7th EU Research Framework Programme.
